Beetle [Coccinellidae] Coccinella Transversalis (Fabricius 1781) 波纹瓢虫

  1. The photo does not show Coccinella transversalis, but Menochilus sexmaculatus (synonym: Cheilomenes sexmaculata) instead.

    The typical morph of a Menochilus sexmaculatus adult can be differentiated from that of Coccinella transversalis by the following characteristics:

    1) Pronotum
    Black T-shaped marking (marginal arc "bridged" to semi-circle) against creamy base.

    2) Along the sutural mid-line of elytron
    a) Lack of any scutellary spot near pronotum;
    b) Lack of any spot near hind.
